The Up The River Blues Festival will be held September 13 in Ossining at Louis Engel Waterfront Park, Ossining’s first American blues Festival in years. The lineup will feature King Solomon Hicks, Willa & Company, The Traveling Riverside Blues Band, Bluefiresoul, Backbone featuring Rae Simone, and Big Frank & Mike Smith.

Louis Engal Park is located along the Hudson on Westerly Road, so bring your own picnic blankets and lawn chairs, and enjoy the beautiful scenery along with traditional blues music. The event is also family friendly, and small children can enjoy the John V. Chervokas playground.
King Solomon Hicks will be taking the stage at 7:00pm. Having grown up around music in Harlem, Solomon has witnessed life changing performances and started playing guitar at six years old. His original song “421 SouthMain” made the Top 20 Blues Songs of 2020 on Spotify, and the song “What the Devil Loves” still gets spins on “Sirrus Bluesville” Radio.

Willa Vincitore & Company are performing from 4:30 to 6:00pm. Willa is a singer/songwriter with an electric mix of blues, soul, rock,funk, and occasionally pop. Willa’s debut CD, Better Days, was critically acclaimed by reviewers around the globe. The Blues and Roots Music Report listed it as one of the Top 50 Contemporary Blues releases of 2017.
The Travelling Riverside Blues is a folk and roots band that specializes in acoustic and electric blues. BlueFireSoul is an amazing quartet of lifetime musicians, recording artists and performers, led by Adam Power, 2021 winners of the NY “Road to Memphis” blues challenge. They will be performing on stage at noon.
Backbone is a blues and rock and roll band looking to keep the feeling of roots alive, featuring vocalist Rae Simone. Big Frank is a traditional electric and acoustic blues musician known for his powerful vocals and bottleneck slide style. The Players are Big Frank Mirra/Guitar, Vocals, Margey Peters/Bass, Bill Rankin/Drums & Mike Smith/Harmonica.
If you’re looking for a classic blues experience, come out to the Up The River blues festival this fall. Food and beverage will be provided from local vendors and food trucks, so no outside food will be allowed. This event also has free entry.
