Good Weather String Band Release Self-Titled EP

Good Weather String Band, a five-piece progressive Bluegrass band from the Finger Lakes region of New York, have released their first and self-titled EP, now available for streaming and purchase.

The five songs on “Good Weather String Band” are rich with old-time blue grass traditions but feature modern twists on chord progressions and the added percussion of Cajon and wailing steel guitar.

“Mama Means” is the first single released on the new EP and is tribute and testament to Motherhood delivered in a traditional Bluegrass stomp. “Mama Means” features vocals that are both sweet and haunting with retrospective lyrics. The chorus features a catchy repeated line; “Mama Means Your Heart Is Outside of Your Body”, which any parent can surely relate to.

The second single from Good Weather String Band “Summertime Blues” shows that the band excels in musical imagery. “Summertime Blues” has the feel of sitting on a front porch somewhere and some time  in America that probably only exists currently in musical form; the band takes you to that place.

“Good Weather String Band” is 2025 Bluegrass, steeped in roots, made with reverence but not scared to be fresh and authentic. The self titled EP is available at the band’s website. Stream the album on Bandcamp.
