Old Dominion Ensures No Bad Vibes for CMAC Show

Old Dominion delivered an unforgettable performance to a packed crowd at CMAC on Saturday, July 19th. With clear skies, warm temperatures, and a cool breeze drifting in off Canandaigua Lake, the How Good Is That World Tour stop came on an evening that felt tailor-made for live music — and the veteran band rose to the occasion once again with a high-energy, hit-filled set that had fans on their feet from start to finish.

The night kicked off with opening performances from Redferrin and Ernest, two rising stars in country music who brought distinct flavors to the stage. Redferrin brought a gritty, modern edge with a blend of country and hip-hop-infused rock.  Once signed to Florida Georgia Line’s publishing company, Tree Vibez Music, you could hear a lot of the same “vibe” heard from some of the songs he penned for the former duo.

Ernest leaned into his signature blend of traditional country charm and smooth vocals, but also played his single “Gettin’ Gone,” featuring none other than Snoop Dogg.  During a cover of “I Had Some Help,” a song that he wrote with Post Malone and Morgan Wallen, Ernest left the stage and did a lap through the crowd.  As it was clearly an impromptu decision, it was the most memorable part of his set, as Ernest jumped up around and encouraged the audience to sing along with him.

When Old Dominion hit the stage, the energy skyrocketed. The band wasted no time diving into fan favorites like “No Hard Feelings,” “Midnight Mess Around,” and “No Such Thing as a Broken Heart.” Their chemistry as a group was undeniable. Lead vocalist Matthew Ramsey was charismatic, as he moved from one side of the stage to the other to judge the energy in the crowd. During their song “Break Up With Him,” the band poked fun at the infamous Coldplay cheating couple, and threw up a Kiss Cam. Whether playfully interacting with the crowd or harmonizing tightly with bandmates Trevor Rosen, Whit Sellers, Geoff Sprung, and Brad Tursi, the group felt both polished and personal.

Old Dominion’s blend of laid-back storytelling, catchy hooks, and heartfelt moments continues to set them apart in today’s country scene the same way it did when they started around 12 years ago.  The way they deliver even the simplest of lyrics makes almost every song relatable to audiences of any age.

As the night ended with a roaring encore of “I Was on a Boat That Day,” the energy didn’t drip one bit. It was a performance that reminded everyone in attendance why summer concerts at CMAC are something truly special — and why Old Dominion remains one of country’s most beloved live acts.

Old Dominion continues their How Good Is That World Tour on July 30th in Bend, OR. They spend the remainder of the summer in North America before heading to Europe in October. CMAC hosts another sold out show on August 2nd, when The Killers come to town.
