Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center Launches Sunset Music Series

The Hudson Valley’s Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center is bringing back live music outdoors this summer. The new Sugar Loaf Sunset Music Series runs every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. starting July 17 through August 28. All shows are free.

The series opened July 17 with Way Behind The Sun, a band that blends classic country with a modern edge. On July 24, Back to the Garden 1969 pays tribute to Woodstock’s biggest hits. July 31 features The Diskoteks with disco and funk favorites.

August continues the series with Jimmy & the Parrots bringing island-inspired covers on the 7th. Stampede blends country and rock on August 14. AM GOLD delivers ’70s yacht rock on August 21. The final show on August 28 features Kickstart Charlie, known for their lively mix of swing, soul, and rock.

The Sugar Loaf Sunset Music Series isn’t just about free music. It’s part of a bigger effort to bring local arts outdoors and into the community. The venue itself has been a creative staple in Chester since 1992. Originally built as the Lycian Center for the Performing Arts, it was the vision of Richard Logothetis, founder of Lycian Stage Lighting. Over the years, the Performing Arts Center has hosted everything from global touring acts to plays, film screenings, and festivals. Its focus remains on giving Chester and the wider Hudson Valley access to quality arts and community programs.
