Queens Artist Majorette Serves Up New Single “Steaks”

Only in New York can finding someone else’s steaks in your freezer spiral into a full-blown identity crisis. For Queens-based indie pop artist Majorette, it turned into a new single, “Steaks”.

“Steaks” is a light, violin-laced track about overthinking something as simple as knocking on your landlord’s door. The stakes are low, but the anxiety is real. The song walks the line between sincere and self-aware, capturing the mental back-and-forth that comes with living in close quarters and second-guessing everything.

The track pairs dreamy synths, warm strings, and a soft jangle-pop bounce. Majorette’s delivery stays grounded and conversational, like she’s telling the story directly to you mid-spiral. It’s a sound that feels homemade but sharp, with this kind of charm.

The music video leans into the inner chaos with style. Shot on 16mm and styled like a silent film, it stars Majorette as both a magician and their assistant. The black-and-white vaudeville vibe turns her indecision into a theatrical split-self showdown, complete with handmade costumes and practical effects.

“Steaks” builds on the sound she introduced with her 2024 EP Forever Starts Tuesday and the recent single “Inner World.” Her songs are short, catchy, and slightly surreal in the best way.
