Tom Morello Releases Powerful New Single “Pretend You Remember Me”

Grammy award winning artist and activist Tom Morello has released a new single “Pretend You Remember Me” which tells a bold immigration story.

“Pretend You Remember Me” is a powerful single written by Morello in support of immigrant rights and in solidarity with immigrants across America amidst the tumultuous political climate in the country.

Pretend you Remember me

Though this single marks the beginning of Morello’s musical independence as his first solo rock project, “Pretend You Remember Me” feels comfortably worn through its seamless production. Morello’s vocals are expertly understated and carry the deep tone of a storyteller. The instrumentals are overwhelming in all the right ways, with stinging guitar riffs and heavy drum beats.

Released alongside the single is a video directed by Morello himself, featuring commentary freed political prisoner Leonard Peltier. The video also features Morello singing throughout Los Angeles among women, children and men who have been affected by the recent ICE raids plaguing the city and powerful political footage from the various presidential administrations, including the current administration that has spurred the raids. News coverage of the ICE raids and footage from the raids and subsequent protests are played throughout the video as well.

“Pretend You Remember” is available for streaming here.
