Maker Park Radio is celebrating its eighth anniversary with the Music & Art Fest on July 11 and 12 in Maker Park in Staten Island.
Maker Park Radio is a celebrated independent radio station based in Staten Island. The station was formed in the Stapleton neighborhood by Kristin Wallace and Tom Ferrie in 2017 to bridge musicians and music fans together. In its eight years, Maker Park Radio has had great influence on and involvement with the arts scene, hosting an array of live performances in Maker Park and producing one of New York City’s largest community-run radio stations.

This year’s two-day festival features an eclectic lineup made of EDM artists, guitarists and one-of-a-kind bands.
Music & Art Fest kicks off on July 11 at 5 p.m. with headliner Dan Deacon, a Baltimore-based recording artist and performer. Deacon is renowned for his innovations in the electronic music genre over the span of his five studio albums and for the large-scale audience participation and interaction featured at his performances.
Shoegaze, post-punk inspired group Horsegirl perform, a noisy rock trio based in Chicago made of Penelope Lowenstein, Nora Cheng and Gigi Reece. The group released their debut album Versions of Modern Performance in 2022, followed by their latest record Phonetics On and On which was released early this year to critical acclaim.
Rounding out the first day of Music & Art Fest is Balaclava, a five-piece trash punk band based in Queens. DJ Nazz Radience and DJ D3signer Dr3ams are also set to perform between sets.

Headlining the second day of festivities on July 12 at 5 p.m. is Jon Spencer, whose illustrious rock career has spanned over 40 years. After rising to prominence with the influential band Pussy Galore, Spencer formed the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion with Judah Bauer and Russell Simmins, blending R&B, rock, blues and rockabilly for over 30 years and releasing several critically-acclaimed albums. Spencer will be joined by Kendall Wind and Macky Bowman of The Bobby Lees for this Music & Art Fest performance.
Montreal-based garage punk band Nobro takes the stage, followed by Brooklyn four-piece indie garage band The Thing. SKORTS brings their unique blend of post-psych, dark-wave disco to Music & Art Fest, with Staten Island’s own The Parallel lines combining the indie and emo genres to close out this year’s festival.
