World Music Wednesday Opens at the Sembrich with Celtic and Quebecois Folk Tunes by Cécilia

The Sembrich’s 2025 World Music Wednesday series is back, starting July 2, with a performance by one of Canada’s top traditional folk ensembles, Cécilia. The group will present a lakeside concert of traditional Celtic and Quebecois folk tunes, full of vibrant rhythms and melodies, all delivered with a unique warmth and richness of expression.

Cécilia is made up of three of Canada’s finest musicians: Timi Turmel, Erin Leahy, and Louis Schryer. They honor their heritage through music, cultivating a fresh and high-spirited sound. The group blends multiple musical worlds together as they explore traditional, Celtic and Quebecois music. Each piece is carefully arranged and enhanced with influences from contemporary, classical, jazz, and swing styles. Their recent debut album, Accent, reflects their dedication to musical creation, offering vibrant rhythms and rich melodies.

We’re delighted to open this year’s World Music Wednesday series with these uniquely talented musicians. Cécilia’s reputation as one of the best folk ensembles on the scene is no exaggeration. The three talented musicians are not only masters of their craft, but also engaging and passionate advocates for the traditions they help preserve and promote.

Richard Wargo, The Sembrich’s Artistic Director

Each performance by Cécilia allows audience members to participate in not only the joy of the trio making music together, but also in the creation of a unique and memorable musical experience.

Cécilia’s performance, as well as all summer festival events, will take place at The Sembrich in Bolton Landing. The Sembrich features museum exhibitions centered on music, history and nature. Its annual summer festival offers an exciting mix of world-class musicians, noted musical scholars, a free film series and the opportunity to enjoy it on the shores of Lake George. The Sembrich is a distinctive cultural experience with its treasured museum, performance series and over four wooded acres of nature paths to explore. The museum and grounds are open daily from May 24 to October 13.
