Chris Stapleton kicked off the weekend with his All-American Road Show on Friday, June 20 at MVP Arena in Albany.

The Kentucky-born country singer-songwriter and guitarist has been touring around the Northeast and has finally come to Albany. He performed alongside the incredible Maggie Rose, who is also a country artist herself.
Stapleton has a diverse background in the music industry throughout his career, from writing hundreds of songs to forming and performing in a bluegrass band. Right now, he is in the mix of headlining his own All-American Road Show Tour as well as opening for George Strait across the country. The All-American Road Show Tour is unique in that Stapleton features songs from throughout his career, rather than a specific album. If you missed Chris’ performance in Albany, there are more chances to see him perform later this summer.

Attending a Chris Stapleton concert is truly unlike any other concert you may have attended. It’s not about larger-than-life light shows or special effects. It’s truly about celebrating country music. Nothing more, nothing less. Even if you’re not a fan of country music, you can appreciate how talented Chris and his band members are. He opened the show to say his job was to play as many songs as he could in the time he was given, while the audience was tasked with having as much fun as they could in the time given.
Let’s just say that he did exactly that – the 2-hour-long set was packed with 24 songs.
The set itself perfectly fit into Chris Stapleton’s style as a musician and artist. The stage was lined with an array of individual light bulbs that tied into the set behind and above the band. These matched the individual lights that were rigged in large groups above the band. The lights were programmed to move up and down in various patterns throughout the show, depending on the vibe of the song that was played.
Lively crowds can enhance a show, and the audience at this show was also on another level. They were engaging, loud, and eager to sing along to every song performed. At times, it was difficult to hear Stapleton sing because the audience was singing louder than he was. A young girl in the Pit even had a sign asking Stapleton to sign her yearbook, which he signed, “To Lila, Remember that time I signed your yearbook?” Signing a yearbook at a concert was a first for him.
Stapleton’s wife, Morgane, is also a part of the band, and she was positioned right up in the front next to Chris. Unlike a lot of right-handed guitar players, whenever he stepped back from the microphone, he turned left to face her instead of the right. Their connection was evident throughout the entire performance – it was clear to the audience that they truly love each other.
Stapleton’s set featured his first solo single from 2013, “What Are You Listening To?” as well as his most recent single, “Bad As I Used To Be,” which is featured in the 2025 movie, F1. He even performed songs like “Midnight Train to Memphis,” which were created during his time in The SteelDrivers back in 2008.

Be sure to catch one of Chris Stapleton’s shows later this summer. He’ll be returning to New York at the end of July. Regardless of whether you are a fan of country music or not, his concerts are special. Chris is an incredible writer and musician. If you’re a fan of good music, you’ll be a fan of his show.
