Fonseca performed at the Theater at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, June 19.

Fonseca, whose full name is Juan Fernando Fonseca, is a renowned Colombian singer and songwriter who has been praised for his Latin rhythms and tropical feels. He has won many awards, including Latin Grammys, and has been honored with multiple Premios Nuestra Tierra, which celebrates Colombia’s most influential artists.

Fonseca has been on his “Tropicalia” tour since the summer of 2024, traveling throughout Latin America and kicked off his U.S. tour on June 11 in Atlanta. He concludes his stay in the U.S. on June 22 in Sugar Land, Texas, and will fly over the pond to Spain, and close off the tour back in South America.

From the moment his 12-piece band got on stage into the Tropicalia intro, the place hummed with color and rhythm. His band features all sorts of instruments including bass, piano, conga drums, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and another wonderful singer Besada. Fonseca appeared and was full of energy, moving naturally with the lighting and smiling at every corner of the audience. His warm vocals touched the audience. The audience was full of people, young and old, cheering and singing along to all of Fonseca’s songs.

Fonseca had such a radiant aura while performing. He performed his fan-favorites including “Te Mando Flores”, “Prometo”, “Arroyito”, and some new songs from his latest album, Tropicalia, an album rich with tropical music, ranging from salsa to pop. Amongst those new songs include “Nunca Me Fui” featuring Panamanian singer Rubén Blades and “Si Tú Me Quieres” featuring legendary Dominican singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra.
It was a beautiful atmosphere full of amor and alegría. Couples and families hugging each other and moving along with the music, arms waving and clapping along with the melody. This was accompanied by amusing visuals that featured beaches, palm trees, and cool special effects on the musicians.

Fonseca really gave his heart and soul into the show as he never put away his smile and would acknowledge all parts of the crowd throughout his set. He even paused during the set to shout out all of the Latin flags and countries present.

One of the highlights of the show was when “Te Mando Flores” played and everyone was singing and dancing along. It was so nice to see couples and fans dancing together, spinning and swinging to the music. The Colombian flags waved non-stop in Midtown.

Fonseca finishes the U.S. trip of the “Tropicalia” tour on June 22 in Sugar Land, Texas. “Tropicalia” is out now on all digital platforms. For more details, visit Fonseca’s official website.
