In Focus: Elizabeth Moen at Night Club 101

This past Wednesday, June 18, singer-songwriter, Elizabeth Moen and her band graced the stage at Night Club 101.

Wednesday’s show marked Elizabeth’s first full band performance in New York in just over two years. The show took place in the East Village at the newly-opened, Night Club 101, located at the sight of the now closed Pyramid Club.

Opening the show was Brooklyn based, Raybody. Featuring Katy Rea (Vocals/Guitar) and Andrew Forman (Guitar). Raybody’s sound is one of few that can capture an audience’s attention with purely the sound of their voice and a guitar or two. Their set was the perfect way to start the humid New York evening.

At 7:50 Elizabeth and her band took to the stage. Though it being an earlier show, the room was filled with eager fans ready for the night to come. The Chicago based singer neatly ties together the sounds of Americana and straight ahead roots-rock with the aid of her unmistakable voice. Her band is made up of Augustus Martini (Bass), Tristan Huygen (Guitar/Backing Vocals), and Jack Brereton (Drums).

The band played just over an hour set consisting of some of her better known songs like “Headgear” but also included some newer covers. One that stood out in particular was her cover of Love Takes Miles by Cameron Winter from his 2024 debut album Heavy Metal. Elizabeth completely makes the song her own. Putting her roots-rock twist on it without straying too far from original feeling of the song. A number of the original songs that were performed throughout the night will be featured on her upcoming album, which is in the process of being finished.

Though Wednesday was her only stop in New York for this tour, Elizabeth Moen has two other shows scheduled for July in Wisconsin in support of Iron and Wine.
