The Bones of J.R. Jones’ newest hypnotic album Radio Waves offers a hauntingly beautiful soundscape. The album echoes an eerie energy that expresses a yearning for something better. There is a palpable desire to lift a cloud from overtop of your head throughout the 11-track album.

In parallel to his album Slow Lightning, Radio Waves certainly answers the call for contemplation. The album is best served with a glass of reflection.

Radio Waves really picks up with ‘Catching You,’ the fifth track on the album. The drum line laying under the guitar resembles a heart beat that carries you through the tune. The chorus’ playful rhythm grabs your attention and entices you to sing along.
The Bones of J.R. Jones takes you on a melancholic journey through Radio Waves peaking at ‘Drive’ where it seems all of the hurt and angst a person can experience in life erupt. The fast paced and stunningly chaotic instrumentation perfectly coincides with the lyrics that question, “am I losing my mind?”
Lastly, the album wraps wonderfully with the closing song ‘Start Again.’ The final song on the album encapsulates a bittersweet feeling of recognized mistakes and want for a fresh start.
The Bones of J.R. Jones finishes his Radio Waves Album Release Tour in Andes, NY on June 21 at Andes Hootenanny.
