Westcott Theater Shows Back On in Syracuse

The Westcott Theater in Syracuse opened back up on June 5, following a city order to close the theater due to shots fired nearby after a show earlier in the week.

“We just got official notice from the police department that we are able to open up for business. We are excited to open up for business and be back open,” Westcott Theater owner, Dan Mastronardi said in a video on Instagram on June 5.

In the video, a friend is seen helping take down the city closure notice and Mastronardi is joined by Johanna Yorke, owner of Alto Cinco down the street from the theater in the Westcott neighborhood.

The Westcott neighborhood is a vibrant community on the eastside of Syracuse with a strip of businesses including Recess Coffee, Fat Boy Pizza Co. and Cluttered Closet Consignment Shop. Events at Westcott. With concert goers stopping at the variety of nearby restaurants and shops before shows, shows at the Westcott help boost the local economy among the small businesses in the area.

The theatre went ahead with its full weekend lineup of events on Thursday, June 5 and Friday, June 6 and on Saturday night hosted Drown, the Northeast’s only Smashing Pumpkins tribute band.
