On Friday, June 5th, Benson Boone brought charisma and pure kinetic energy to CMAC in Canandaigua, NY, performing in front of a sold-out crowd of more than 15,000 fans. Known for his soaring vocals and genre-blending artistry, Boone continues to prove why he’s one of the most exciting rising stars in pop music.
From the moment he stepped on stage in his white t-shirt and blue pants, Boone delivered a show that was as visually thrilling as it was musically rich. His performance style blends retro soul/rock and contemporary pop with seamless ease, creating a sound that feels both nostalgic and entirely fresh. The crowd fed off his infectious energy as he leapt across the stage—literally. At multiple points in the night, Boone launched into his infamous flips, some off his piano and others after getting a full running start, each time landing with the kind of confidence that matched his vocal performance. These weren’t just stunts for the show—they emphasized the physical intensity and passion that Boone pours into every song.
Backing Boone was a powerhouse band, with each four members fitted in white sleeveless tees. His guitarist Sus Vasquez owned every solo with ferocity and finesse, her command of the stage undeniable. Whether she was laying down a crunchy riff or ripping through a melodic lead, she played with the kind of precision and soul that elevated the entire night. This more than likely comes easy with her kind of experience, as she also tours with Karol G and Luis Fonsi.
With blue, heart-shaped sunglasses on, Boone hopped on top of the platform that held his piano and began to play the intro to “Slow it Down.” As he got into the chorus, Boone stood on top of his piano, placed his sunglasses at his feet on top of the piano and launched into a flip. The crowd halted their sing-a-long to let out a giant roar.
Fans also belted every word to songs like “Sorry I’m Here for Someone Else,” “Momma Song,” and even knew “Young American Heart,” which hasn’t even been released yet. Boone capped off the evening with his monster hit “Beautiful Things.”
Opening the evening was singer-songwriter Isabel Dumaa, whose soft, delicate vocals drew the crowd in with a gentle touch—until she let loose. Dumaa demonstrated remarkable vocal control, knowing exactly when to keep things intimate and when to unleash her full vocal power. Not bad considering she had just gotten added to the card three days before showtime, and she made note that it was the biggest crowd she has played for, so far in her young career.
Benson Boone’s “American Heart World Tour” kicks off in August and includes stops in North American and Europe. This all-arena tour sold out in only nine seconds on the sale date. Boone can also be caught flipping at festivals this summer.
