“Molotov” is a one-take vocal duet between Winstrom and Bex Odorisio of Bex and the Disappointment. The folk harmonies are sung over a playful, laurel-canyon-esque track.

“I wrote this on a clear summer night on my little back patio, fooling around with open tunings,” Winstrom said. “Bex is my absolute favorite person to sing with. The little lick she sings on the line ‘fingers running through my hair’ knocks me out.”

Winstrom’s witty lyrics, “you cast me like an actress // you catch me like a cough // you break me like a mattress // light me like a molotov,” play between themes of hope and heartbreak.

Though considered a rock ‘n’ roll artist, Winstrom is not just one thing. Blending pop, folk, Americana and indie, the artist creates soft-sounding, hard-hitting tracks.

Winstrom’s new album Razzmatazz, out Aug. 2, is filled with emotionally rich songs from power-pop to bruised ballads. The artist’s inspirations of Tom Petty, R.E.M., and Paul Simon shine through in this bittersweet composition.
