For each of the five events diverse ensembles will play genres from blues to jazz to classical. All events start at 7 p.m.

“We’re proud to offer experiences that might otherwise only be found in major metropolitan centers,” festival founder and artistic director, Linda Chesis said. The season represents the heart of the festival: extraordinary music in intimate settings that brings the Cooperstown community together in shared moments of musical discovery, Chesis said.

The Cooperstown Summer Music Festival will run from July 21 through Aug. 21, starting with American String Quartet with Linda Chesis and Daniel Avshalomov. The musicians will perform Brahms’ viola quintet, Mozart’s String Quartet No. 22 in B-flat major, K. 589, and a suite inspired by Basque folk traditions.

Following that performance is the most anticipated show of the season: The Queen’s Cartoonists. The Queen’s Cartoonist is a six-piece band that synchronizes their music with animated films projected on stage, reminiscent of Disney’s Fantasia. The band will recreate original soundtracks note-for-note while adding their own compositions to modern pieces with their jazz style.

On Aug. 4, Baroque violinist Rachell Ellen Wong will play with her ensemble Twelfth Night, playing pieces including “Devil’s Trill,” a piece rumored to be inspired by a dream about the devil playing the violin due to the technical difficulty of the piece.

Caroga Arts Ensemble return to Cooperstown on Aug. 13 with KASA Quartet, flutist Linda Chesis, and clarinetists Graeme Steele Johnson and Bixby Kennedy. The musicians will perform works of Debussy, Ravel, and Charles Martin Loeffler Octet. The season will close out on Aug. 21 with Etienne Charles, a trumpeter from Trinidad that draws African diaspora influences together with Caribbean rhythms.
