The Celebration of the Legacy of Pete & Toshi Seeger, featuring Chapin & friends, the Chapin Sisters, and Amram, will kick off the festival from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., honoring the enduring spirit of music, community, and activism that defined the Seegers’ lifelong work.

Chapin has long used his music as a platform for activism on environmental protection, social justice, and the fight against hunger. In support of Pete and Toshi Seeger’s lifelong commitment to building a better world, Chapin has been a frequent performer at Clearwater events, channeling their spirit of musical activism. Inspired by Pete Seeger’s music since childhood, Chapin grew to consider the Seegers as mentors and close friends. This year, he returns to the festival to celebrate their legacy, joined by his daughters Abigail and Lily—known collectively as The Chapin Sisters.

Joining this celebration is special guest David Amram, widely acclaimed as “America’s Renaissance Man of Music.” A close friend of Pete Seeger, Amram often reflected on Seeger’s dedication to social activism and the profound influence he had on generations of musicians and advocates. In recognition of his own contributions, Amram received Clearwater’s Pete and Toshi Seeger Annual Power of Song Award in 2013. As Seeger once said in The New York Times (April 2011), “He’s one of the most talented musicians in the universe!”

Presented by Dayglo Presents, Harper House Music Foundation, and Riverfest FPS, the Hudson River Music Festival draws inspiration from the spirit and legacy of Toshi and Pete Seeger’s iconic Clearwater Festival, offering a full day of performances and activities for all.

Other musical guests include Grahame Lesh & Friends – featuring Rick Mitarotonda (Goose), Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Company, Allman Brothers Band), Taylor Goldsmith, Griffin Goldsmith (Dawes), Jen Hartswick (Trey Anastasio Band), – Lucius featuring Griffin & Taylor Goldsmith, Madison Cunningham, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Steve Earle & Friends and Jorma Kaukonen (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane).

Festival highlights include the iconic Earthball, the peaceful Pete & Toshi’s Grove—designed for reflection and honoring the Seegers’ legacy—the Circle of Song, performances by the Arm of the Sea Puppet Show and The Rock and Roll Playhouse, as well as the mesmerizing Boat Flotilla along the Hudson River.

The festival’s dedication to the Seegers extends beyond music. It includes a commitment to sustainability inspired by the Clearwater tradition, encouraging attendees to support a Zero Waste future.
