Students from NYC public schools performed on May 22 at the 20th Annual Shubert Foundation & Music Theatre International Broadway Junior Student Finale.

The Broadway Junior Student Finale is a theatre mentorship program that aims to give students at public schools the creative outlet to perform and affect school culture change through theatre education programs.
“Youth today navigate a rapidly changing world,” said NYCPS Director of Theater Peter Avery. “Theatre in our schools provides a space and time to process events socially and emotionally, to explore big issues safely and creatively with their peers daily in classes, rehearsals, and on all of life’s stages.”
On May 22, Students from Brooklyn, the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens public schools performed at Broadway’s Ambassador Theatre. Over 450 students shared the Broadway stage, playing numbers from their full school musical productions of Broadway musicals.
