Brooklyn Mirage fired CEO Josh Wyatt on May 22, after failing to reopen the venue on May 1 for the 2025 season. Avant Gardener hired Wyatt in October 2024 to revamp the venue, but after just 8 months and four weekends of cancellations, fans and employees grew upset.

Brooklyn Mirage is one of New York’s top curation venues in EDM Music, having hosted names like Carl Cox, John Summit, Keinemusik, Black Coffee and Swedish House Mafia. With a total capacity of 6,000 people and a 300-foot curved LED wall, the venue regularly hosted outdoor dusk-to-dawn shows.
As reported by BK Mag, the venue has faced internal problems, even years before Wyatt’s leadership. Since its opening in 2017, Brooklyn Mirage has faced battles with the State Liquor Authority and safety concerns. In 2023, two mysterious deaths near the venue brought more attention to the safety of the venue, bringing down its reputation.
During Josh Wyatt’s 8 months as CEO of Avant Gardner, a multi-venue company including Brooklyn Mirage, reconstruction of the venue took place to better the 2025 season. Through claims of transparency, plans to reopen fell through, surprising fans and employees.
On May 1, Brooklyn Mirage was all set to open for the season with DJ Sara Landry. Fans lined up outside the venue and security crews arrived for the night, but just hours before the show, the building inspector failed the venue for safety inspection and Brooklyn Mirage had to cancel.
Every weekend since, the venue has cancelled its shows and it is unclear when it will reopen its doors.
