Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Presents SNL Musical Exhibit

Live from Cleveland, it’s Saturday Night! The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is collaborating with “Saturday Night Live” for an immersive exhibit held at the Museum in Cleveland, Ohio. The exhibit celebrates the iconic comedy show’s decades of music history, unforgettable performances and famed sketches. The exhibit is open to visitors beginning Friday, May 23.

Rock and Roll Saturday Night Live

This engaging exhibit leads visitors through the run of a Saturday Night Live episode, starting with the classical cold open and transitioning to the home base stage where the host announces the musical guests. At the facade of the famous Studio 8H in Rockefeller Center, an exclusive facet of the exhibit, visitors have the chance to pose as hosts of Saturday Night Live themselves. The “Goodnights” segment contains displays showcasing the most notorious musical performances from Saturday Night Live’s 50 years and counting run.

State of the art video installations and a first ever virtual experience fully immerse visitors in the world of Saturday Night Live, highlighting the show’s most legendary musical performances throughout the years from artists Blondie and Mick Jagger to Billie Eilish and Sabrina Carpenter.

Key features of the exhibit include the display of trademark costumes from past Saturday Night Live musical sketches, The Blues Brothers, D–k in a Box, Sweeney Sisters and more. Blended throughout the exhibit are Saturday Night Live’s famous photo bumpers and stage props, with the custom built SNL50 photo booth allowing visitors to bring home portraits of themselves in the iconic bumper formats.

Other immersive experiences the exhibit offers includes the museum’s Foster Theater playing an exclusive 20-minute edit of “Ladies and Gentleman… 50 Years of SNL Music”, the critically acclaimed documentary that explores Saturday Night Live’s rich musical history and iconic performances, directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson. Also, visitors have the chance to be guided throughout the exhibit by a tailor-made, printed guidebook that features a foreword written by former Saturday Night Live cast member Fred Armisen.

“‘Saturday Night Live’ has brought amazing live music into our living rooms for 50 years, including ground-breaking appearances by over 100 of our Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees,” said President and CEO of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum Greg Harris. “Along with the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, we are thrilled to be joining with our friends at ‘SNL’ to share this exciting story with the millions of fans who walk through our doors in Cleveland or online at RockHall.com every year.”
