Little Feat Bring Classic Southern Groove to The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester

On Thursday, May 8, Little Feat brought their signature blend of rock, funk, and New Orleans soul to The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester as part of their “Sailing Shoes Tour,” supporting their first new studio album in over a decade. The night opened with a strong set from Cris Jacobs, whose gritty blues-rock and laid-back charm set the tone for the evening.

The current lineup—Bill Payne, Sam Clayton, Kenny Gradney, Fred Tackett, Scott Sharrard, and Tony Leone—delivered a dynamic performance that showcased the band’s staying power and tight musicianship. From the opening notes of “Fat Man in the Bathtub,” fans were treated to a journey through classic tracks and new material alike.

Setlist highlights included “Oh Atlanta,” the feel-good groove of “Time Loves a Hero,” and the funky slow burn of “Spanish Moon.” Newer tracks like “Four Days of Heaven, Three Days of Work” and “Midnight Flight” held their own alongside longtime favorites. An acoustic segment in the middle of the set featured a soulful cover of Marvin Gaye’s “Baby Don’t You Do It” and the bluegrass-tinged “Bluegrass Pines.”

They closed out the main set with fan favorites “Willin’,” “Dixie Chicken” (which included a nod to Miles Davis with a tease of “Jean-Pierre”), and “Let It Roll.” The encore brought the crowd to its feet with the deep groove of “Skin It Back.”
