Binghamton Philharmonic Brings the Soul with Capathia Jenkins

The Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra is thrilled to present She’s Got Soul, featuring Capathia Jenkins, as the finale of the 2024-2025 Visions Federal Credit Union Pops Series.

She’s Got Soul is a dazzling review of the greatest hits of Motown, R&B, and classic soul performed by acclaimed Broadway diva Capathia Jenkins performed with the gorgeous sound of the full orchestra, led by Maestro Daniel Hege.

Capathia Jenkins has been recognized for her enormous talent, passion, and commitment in her many roles on Broadway, including in the Tony Award-nominated musicals Newsies and Caroline, or Change. She has numerous television credits, and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for her portrayal of the first African American to win an Academy Award in the Off-Braodway play (mis)Understanding Mammy: The Hattie McDaniel Story.

In addition, Ms. Jenkins has sung with America’s leading orchestras, including the Cleveland Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Philadelphia Pops, and National Symphony Orchestra.

The Binghamton Philharmonic is the Southern Tier’s largest and longest-serving professional symphony orchestra. It was founded by cellist/conductor Fritz Wallenberg and his wife, violinist Marianne Vallenberg, in 1955 as the Binghamton Symphony and Choral Society, with the purpose of performing live, full-scale orchestral works.
