Last week, NYS Music had the pleasure of meeting and interviewing Robbie Wulfsohn lead singer of Ripe. On Thursday, April 17, the “Ripe Live On Tour” came to Bearsville Theater in Woodstock.

Ripe was supported by Dylan Chambers who began with a lively set which created the atmosphere for the night. Chambers played songs from his debut EP It’s Time for Dylan Chambers, a set filled with dancing and a heartfelt thank you for the support of fans. He also gave a shoutout to Bearsville’s rich music history which he stated inspired him to begin his music career.

As Ripe entered the stage it was clear what the energy was for the rest of the night. The second that Robbie stepped on the stage, he commanded the audience to dance and sing along. This became a theme throughout the show, where Robbie would teach the audience a dance or a chant to sing during the songs.

Ripe met and formed at Berklee College of Music. When asked about working with friends Robbie Wulfsohn stated, “Sometimes I look at people who do it without their friends and wonder how they do it.” The friendship is clear from the audience, and the entire set the band had energy, dance moves, and jokes for the audience.
Woodstock got a special seek into a possible new single Robbie stated, “If you guys like it we’ll release it if not… it will never see the light of day”. It was a slow and sad song which is different from the bands usual lively sound. The audience greatly enjoyed the song resulting in everyone grabbing the hands of those they were with.

Ripe gave Bearsville a night to remember each person was laughing, singing, and dancing along with the band. If you missed this show, be sure to see them on May 19 in Patchogue and Party in the Park on July 31st in Rochester.
