Killswitch Engage Packs Buffalo Riverworks

On Wednesday, April 9, Buffalo RiverWorks was the epicenter of mayhem and melody as metalcore legends Killswitch Engage headlined a sold-out show with a crushing lineup of support from Frozen Soul, Fit for a King, and Kublai Khan TX. With the majority of the bands hailing from Texas, the Lone Star State brought the heat to Buffalo in more ways than one.

The crowd was electric from the moment the doors opened, with fans dressed for chaos—banana suits, face paint, Slaughter to Prevail masks, and even full-body onesies made appearances, adding a bizarre and hilarious energy to the pit.

Frozen Soul kicked things off with their signature blend of death metal brutality, setting a grim tone that was quickly followed by Fit For A King, who hit the stage with relentless aggression and groove-heavy riffs that turned the floor into a war zone, with plenty of Ryan O’Leary’s high flying bass stunts and jumps.

Kublai Khan TX followed with a high-octane set, stoking the energy even higher as the crowd shouted along to every breakdown and chorus. By the time Killswitch Engage hit the stage, the room was already at a boiling point.

Killswitch opened with the anthemic “Strength of the Mind,” immediately sending fists into the air and voices into the rafters. The set was packed with fan favorites including “My Curse,” “In Due Time,” and the soul-stirring “The Arms of Sorrow.” They also played a few from their newest album, “I believe” and “Collusion” A brief but tense moment occurred when the show was paused due to a suspected medical emergency in the pit—but the crowd eventually gave a thumbs up and the show carried on full throttle.

From there, the energy only climbed. During one song, a bra was triumphantly hurled onto the stage, met with laughs and cheers from the band and crowd alike. The lead guitarist was a blur, darting from side to side like a kid in a candy store with a six-string axe. It was clear the band was having just as much fun as the fans.

This show wasn’t just a concert—it was a celebration of chaos, camaraderie, and catharsis. Whether you were screaming your lungs out in the front row or moshing in a banana costume, you were part of something unforgettable.
