This April, the musicians of Ma’alwyck are performing their spring concert, There’s No Place Like Home, in Upstate New York. They are playing Thursday, April 24th, at The Strand Theatre in Hudson Falls, Sunday, April 27th, at The Schuyler Mansion in Albany, and Saturday, May 10, at Fort Herkimer Church in Mohawk.

The Musicians of Ma’alwyck is a chamber ensemble in residence at the Schuyler Mansion New York State Historic Site and Schenectady County Community College. Founded in 1999 by violinist and director Ann-Marie Barker Schwartz, the group specializes in music performed in America during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and many of the performing materials are drawn from the Special Collections of the New York State Library.

In the spring of 2000, the Musicians of Ma’alwyck gave its first public performance at the Schuyler Mansion State Historic Site. The show was completely sold out and produced an extremely enthusiastic response from the audience, so these upcoming performances will commemorate their residency at The Schuyler Mansion and take a fun trip down memory lane. These upcoming performances will feature some of their most popular repertory from over the years, including works by Beethoven and Schubert.

The Musicians of Ma’alwyck are also going to be featured in an upcoming documentary film, The Long Determination, a story of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender service members told in their own words. The film begins with an early history of men and women who served since the American Revolution, and a recording from Musicians of Ma’alwyck’s first album, Music in the Schuyler Mansion, will be featured in the film.

This summer, Musicians of Ma’alwyck will also be reviving the legacy of the trailblazing Zoellner String Quartet. With concerts in Gloversville, Wyoming, NY, and Wrentham, MA, including an intimate bus tour, audiences will step back in time to experience the music, stories, and adventures of this remarkable early 20th-century ensemble.
