On Thursday, March 27th, Park Theater in Hudson hosted a night of local folk music, featuring Glenn Echo, High Tea and Cold Chocolate. Park Theater is known for its intimate atmosphere allowing artist to share their work within a small community.

Glenn Echo began the night with a short set of indie-folk originals. He set the tone off with the calm yet captivating sound of his voice and his guitar. A local artist from the Hudson Valley, Glenn Echo has recently finished recording and album in Brooklyn.

High Tea, a musician duo from Boston went next with a collection of indie-folk originals. They asked the audience for support in creating their first professionally recorded studio album, sharing link to donate for those who are able to contribute.

Their songs delve into deep and complex topics not all artists explore. High Tea explained themes of “not being able to help someone you love” & stated “this next song is written as if the devil has a crush on you, but he still wants to steal your soul”. To end their set, they came onto the floor in front of the audience and sang an acoustic song. They then invited Park Theater help to sing the harmony.

To end the evening was Cold Chocolate a folk-bluegrass duo also from Boston. They stated they always miss out on hearing their favorite artists live, so they decided to perform a show with them in order to attend. They sang originals and covered some of the quintessential folk tunes from their childhoods. Their originals songs also had emotional backstories.
One was a song dedicated to lead singer Ethan Robin’s daughter. Along with a song about the importance of your mother being “first person you call, whether it’s something good or bad”. Initially the duo sat at opposite sides of the stage with Ethan singing and playing guitar while Ariel Burnstein sang and played percussion. For their final songs, the two came to the front and shared a microphone creating a fun and connected feel between the two friends.
