Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame Hosts Rolling Stone Reporter David Browne

The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) has announced a May 10 book signing and Q&A event with Rolling Stone reporter and author David Browne in celebration of his new book, “Talkin’ Greenwich Village: The Heady Rise and Slow Fall of America’s Bohemian Music Capital.”

Browne’s new novel discusses the rise and heyday of Manhattan’s Greenwich Village’s music scene, primarily based on new research and first-hand interviews with many of the Village’s legendary performers. Symbolizing the convergence of music, politics, reinvention and culture, the Village created a space that attracted misfits and musicians for decades, before its downfall during the dawn of the ‘90s.

Through an extensive research period of four years, Browne, connecting his personal experiences with his time as a college student at New York University, interviewed more than 150 people, including legendary musicians Judy Collins and Herbie Hancock, to create a novel enriched with diversity and depth of the iconic decade.

“Greenwich Village may seem miles away from Long Island—and it is—but some of its legendary musicians—like the late Dave Van Ronk—hailed from Queens and further points east,” Browne said. “I’m really looking forward to bringing the spirit of the Village music scene to the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame.”
