Chenango River Theatre, located in Greene, New York, is gearing up for its 2025 Main Stage Season, bringing a diverse lineup of performances that promise to surpass expectations.

Chenango River Theatre is well-known for its professional productions, offering a unique theater experience with performances featuring talented actors from across the country. Since opening its doors in 2008, CRT has been providing high-quality theater while fostering strong community engagement. Now celebrating its 17th season, the theater continues to present a wide-ranging array of compelling performances that appeal to all types of audiences.
To support the exciting 2025 season, CRT will host its annual Fundraising Gala. It will take place on March 29 at 6 PM at Baron’s Inn in Greene. The event plays a vital role in funding the upcoming season, helping to ensure that CRT can continue to bring outstanding theater to the area.

Five Women Wearing the Same Dress
Directed by Andrew Kahl, this hilarious comedy kicks off the season with performances from May 30 to June 15. The play follows five bridesmaids trapped upstairs at a Knoxville wedding reception, each with a secret history with the bride. As the evening unfolds, the women share their stories, leading to moments of unexpected friendship and laughter. Five Women Wearing the Same Dress is a chaotic yet touching exploration of friendship and vulnerability.

First Date
Running from July 11 to August 3, this energetic and quirky musical follows the awkward first date between Aaron and Casey. What starts as a simple evening at a New York restaurant turns into an unpredictable rollercoaster of emotions. As the night progresses, the couple navigates a series of hilarious and tense moments, trying to figure out if they have a chance at love. Directed by Tim Iversen, First Date is a fun, fast-paced exploration of modern dating.

Dear Jack, Dear Louise
From August 29 to September 14, Bill Lelbach directs this moving tale set during World War II. It follows the growing relationship between Jack, an Army doctor stationed in Oregon, and Louise, an aspiring actress in New York City. Through heartfelt letters, the two build a connection despite the barriers of war and distance. Dear Jack, Dear Louise is a beautiful story of love, hope, and the unpredictability of human connection.

Frankenstein
The season concludes with an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, directed by Andrew Kahl. Running from October 10 to October 26, this production reimagines the classic story of Victor Frankenstein’s tragic creation. The play explores the complex relationship between creator and creature, showing how Frankenstein’s obsession with knowledge forces him to face the consequences of his actions in a powerful, dramatic climax.
