“Malibu #2” introduces the band’s signature indie-rock jam fusion sound with a memorable chant: “I never want to play in Malibu again!” With vocalist and guitarist Paddy McKiernan, guitarist Avery Greeson, bassist Brennan Clark and drummer Davis Rower, the new single creates a cathartic release of guitars and raw emotion, delivering the highs and lows of life.

“It’s about touring and a life of travel, but using it as an escape from my problems,” Clark said.  “You get out, but your issues are still there. When you come home, everyone has gotten better as people, but you’re still emotionally stunted. So, you end up frustrated. It has the right energy to introduce this chapter.”

The music video features the four-piece jam band in a van doing what they do best: jamming out. The raw emotions of “Malibu #2” are clear – most especially through McKiernan, as the vocalist sings into the camera. The single is a classic summer song, with the promised suspense towards the end of the single.

The single is merely a taste of Whitehall’s upcoming album, set to release later this year. With tour appearances alongside Goo Goo Dolls, Arlie and Carver Commodore, Whitehall’s next chapter promises an era of evolution, energy and introspection. As part of their spring tour with indie duo Cal In Red, the band will perform at Brooklyn’s TV Eye on Thursday, April 17.
