Brooklyn’s Two-Man Giant Squid has released their self-titled album, Two-Man Giant Squid, fusing art-punk, indie, and psychedelic influences with eclectic songwriting. The band will celebrate the album release with a performance at Market Hotel in Brooklyn on Saturday, March 29th, with special guests Public Circuit and Surgeon General.

The band originally started as a bedroom project of Mitchell Vinkour but evolved into a five-piece band with the addition of Yan Kogan, Robbie Sawyer, Sam Borges, and Brendan Jones. Their first two albums gained popularity as cornerstone releases in the post-COVID DIY scene, but their most recent third LP marks the band’s biggest step forward yet. Collaborating with Sir Chloe and producer Teddy O’Mara to create a demo-forward approach with a more expansive sound showcasing this unique band’s versatility and emotional depth.
“At its heart, it’s a high energy art-punk record with a psychedelic edge, but it offers listeners their deepest step yet into our eclectic world…We wanted to make a record that was hellbent on uncovering the faint lines between passion, obsession, and self-destruction while simultaneously capturing a fleeting moment in our lives. Desperate to prioritize a real “no-punches-pulled” experience between artist and listener, we’ve even broadcasted an actual tension-filled band fight to get our message across. Every feeling I have on this record has two sides to it, and I’m going to let both of those sides be known even if it means arguing with myself. It’s like an unreliable narrator thing and the inner turmoil plays out front and center throughout the record. This is our experimental stamp on the North American post-punk moment.”
Mitchell Vinkour

The album Two-Man Giant Squid explores Vinkour’s struggles with passion and obsession regarding music. Vinkour has put so much energy and dedication into his music that it has sometimes strained relationships in his life. In this recent album, Vinkour explores the internal fight of his relationship with music and how it can potentially be destructive to pour all of yourself into your passions.
