Tony-Nominated BIPOC Producers Join The Shubert Organization 2025 Artistic Circle for Broadway Development

The Shubert Organization has selected three new members for its prestigious Artistic Circle program for 2025: Miranda Gohh, George Strus, and Cynthia J. Tong.

The initiative, now in its fifth year, supports BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) theatre producers who focus on commercial Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.

The Broadway Women’s Fund named Miranda Gohh a “2022 Woman to Watch on Broadway.” Initially,This Tony Award-nominated producer from Providence, RI founded Theatre Producers of Color (TPOC). Her non-profit empowers the next generation of BIPOC producers through education and mentorship. Gohh currently works as Associate Producer at Mike Bosner Productions. Her impressive credits include “Suffs,” “Cabaret,” Alex Edelman’s “Just For Us,” “Here Lies Love,” and “A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical.”

Furthermore, George Strus (they/them) brings their experience as a Tony Award-nominated and Obie Award-winning producer to the program. This non-binary Latiné producer and dramaturg founded Breaking the Binary Theatre. Their organization develops work for transgender, non-binary, and Two-Spirit+ theatermakers. As Founding CEO of Benson Drive Productions, Strus develops projects like Amber Ruffin’s “BIGFOOT.” Their co-producing work includes “ILLINOISE,” “OH MARY!,” “ROMEO + JULIET,” and Stephen Sondheim’s “HERE WE ARE.” Strus received the 2024 Prince Fellowship and maintains Associate Membership in The Broadway League.

Cynthia J Tong has built her career as a Tony Award-nominated Asian American creative producer. In addition, she actively develops the upcoming “Just in Time” featuring Jonathan Groff as Bobby Darin, and simultaneously works on “The Bedwetter,” based on Sarah Silverman’s memoir.She has contributed to more than 25 projects across Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional theaters, and the U.K.Tong produces at Tom Kirdahy Productions, where she works on the Broadway revival of “Gypsy” starring Audra McDonald.

Beyond her producing work, Tong also teaches as an adjunct professor at Montclair State University. Moreover, she co-founded The Industry Standard Group, which consequently creates new pathways to Broadway investment and producing opportunities.

The Shubert Organization launched the Artistic Circle in 2021. The program specifically assists BIPOC theatre producers with Broadway and Off-Broadway commercial projects. Eight producers have benefited from the program since it began.
