Redwood opened on February 13th at the Nederlander Theatre. The show marks Idina Menzel’s return to Broadway for the first time since her starring role in 2015’s “If/Then”. The show also marks a particularly poignant homecoming for Menzel as she performs at the Nederlander, the same theatre that hosted her Broadway debut in Jonathon Larson’s “Rent“.
The talent was not limited to the stage at the Nederlander as musicians, actors, dancers, and television personalities strolled down the red carpet on 41st Street. Sara Barielles, Lizzie McAlpine, Ingrid Michaelson, Kelli O’Hara, Eden Espinosa, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Micaela Diamond, and many other artists were in attendance to witness Idina Menzel’s return in Redwood.
De’Adre Aziza, Michael Park, Zachary Noah Piser, and Khaila Wilcoxson join Menzel in the cast. The show was conceived by Menzel and Tina Landau, and it now plays on Broadway following a run at La Jolla Playhouse in La Jolla, CA. The show can be seen eight times a week at the Nederlander Theatre.
