2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominees Revealed

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has announced its list of 14 Performer Nominees to be considered for induction into it’s 2025 class. Among these are eight newcomers to the ballot, including Phish and The Black Crowes. They’re joined by Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, OutKast and Bad Company as first timers on the ballot. The other nominees are Mariah Carey, Joe Cocker, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Oasis, Soundgarden and The White Stripes.

Nominee ballots will now be distributed to an international voting panel comprised of more than 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals. The selection criteria include an artist’s impact on music culture, influence on musicians that have followed, as well as the scope and longevity of the performer’s career and body of work.

There’s also a fan vote element included for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Fans can vote for up to seven nominees once a day at the Hall of Fame’s website here.

Artists or bands become eligible for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination 25 years after releasing their first commercial recording. So even though jam band heavyweight Phish is new to the ballot, they’ve been eligible since 2014 with their seminal debut album Junta being released in 1989. The band that has made their New Year’s Eve spectacular an annual tradition at Madison Square Garden is looking to follow their musical brethren Dave Matthews Band who were enshrined in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame last year.

The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Class will be revealed in late April, along with those Inductees entering the Hall under three special committee categories: Musical Influence, Musical Excellence and the Ahmet Ertegun Non Performer Award. This year’s Induction Ceremony is set to take place in Los Angeles sometime this Fall.
