Embrace the chill for the 63rd Annual Lake George Winter Carnival, a Lake George Village tradition cherished since 1961.
The Lake George Winter Carnival will be on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from January 31 to March 2. The festivities will offer a plethora of friendly activities that celebrate the beauty and excitement of winter in the Adirondacks.

With their lake safely frozen over, people flock to the Winter Carnival to participate and watch several activities held on the ice and around the lake. The crisp winter air provides a lively sensation, adding to the excitement. Snowmobiles and ATVs become the norm for traversing the lake.
Many traditional activities are held both days every weekend, but each weekend includes new events and thrills. Many of the village restaurants and pubs are open, providing a great view and a place to warm up.

There are plenty of fan favorites, including a polar plunge, chili cook-off, parade, bonfire, outhouse race, and more. This year, Jessyca Darrah, co-chair of the Lake George Winter Carnival, said they are cleared for two ice races, making this the first year since 2019 that races such as motorcycles, outhouses, and four-by-fours could be allowed. Said Darrah, “Opening weekend has been nonstop; there are so many people here, and this hot chocolate bar has not let up.”
