Hearing Aide: Ryder Release new LP “Menagerie”

Queens-based Ryder released their newest album, Menagerie on January 31st. The 10 track, hard-rock inspired LP is their third official and second studio release to date. Menagerie follows their 2023 live album Ryder (Live) and 2020’s Killer Karma.

This is Ryder’s first album to feature the band’s new line-up with a fresh dynamic and renewed sense of creative energy. Ryder is James Ryder, lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Max Knight on lead guitar and Nick Bavaro and Rod Viquez on drums and bass respectively.

The band draws influence from legends past while defining and honing their own unique sound. Encapsulating a hard-rock high energy sound, the band finds a healthy balance incorporating heavy riffs, tasteful acoustic guitar, fiery guitar solos, and deep cutting lead vocals.

The album’s title track “Menagerie” clocks in at just over eight minutes and is the perfect example of Ryder’s ability to navigate different rhythms, genres and musical ideas. The song fades into a beautiful slow-building bridge before transitioning into a memorable guitar-led harmony that brings us back home. There is a nostalgic feeling that surrounds Ryder’s sound, yet it is entirely of their own.

When speaking on the new release, the band says “The record is a vivid tapestry of human experience, blending raw emotion with powerful instrumentation. Each track offers a unique lens into themes of struggle, triumph and identity, reflecting Ryder’s evolution as artists. From blistering hard rock anthems to haunting melodies, Menagerie showcases the band’s ability to tell stories that resonate deeply while delivering high-energy, unforgettable performances.”
