On January 29th, Friends of the Brothers, the premier tribute to the legendary Allman Brothers Band, lit up City Winery NYC with a night of soulful, electric, and timeless classics. With a lineup that boasts deep ties to the Allman Brothers Band, the performance honored the legacy of one of rock’s most enduring acts in a way that only they could.

Jaimoe’s presence brought a unique authenticity to the evening. As one of the original members of the Allman Brothers Band, his drumming anchored the performance, carrying the signature grooves and rhythms that defined the band’s sound. His connection to the music served as a reminder of the Allman Brothers’ pioneering contributions to rock history.

Friends of the Brothers are known as the premier Allman Brothers tribute band, and their lineup reflects a deep connection to the original group. Guitarist and vocalist Andy Aledort, who spent over a decade playing with Dickey Betts, showcased his skill and dedication. Junior Mack, a long-time collaborator with Jaimoe in the Jasssz Band, delivered soulful guitar work and vocals. Mike Katzman, known for his dynamic performances, brought authentic keyboard tones. And guitarist, vocalist, and author Alan Paul added storytelling depth, drawing on his book One Way Out, a definitive Allman Brothers biography. The rhythm section, with bassist Craig Privett and drummers Dave Diamond and Lee Finkelstein, provided a solid backbone for the evening.

The setlist featured classic Allman Brothers songs, beginning with a powerful rendition of “Statesboro Blues.” Jaimoe’s drumming stood out on tracks like “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More,” the melodic “Blue Sky,” and the instrumental masterpiece “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.” The band was joined by special guests, including guitarist Tom Guarna, who added intensity to “Whipping Post,” and jazz artists Joe Fonda and Dick Griffin, who brought fresh energy to “Dreams.”
