Young Musicians of Ensemble Connect To Perform at Skidmore College

Young professional classical musicians of Ensemble Connect are performing at Skidmore College’s Arthur Zankel Music Center this February 7th.

This year’s biannual residency at Skidmore College is from February 4-8. The Ensemble Connect fellows will get the opportunity to engage with Skidmore College students and partake in master classes, lessons, class demonstrations, and interactive performances. The fellows will then showcase their versatility by performing works commissioned for the ensemble, taking place in Skidmore’s Arthur Zankel Music Center, Helen Filene Ladd Concert Hall, at 7:30 pm Friday, February 7. The performance will feature Schubert’s unfinished “Quartettsatz,” two New York premieres by Katherine Balch, Berio’s “Ricorrenze,” and Beethoven’s Septet in E-flat Major, a quintessential work.

Ensemble Connect is a two-year fellowship program created by The Julliard School, Carnegie Hall, and The Weill Music Institute in partnership with the New York City Department of Education. This fellowship prepares extraordinary young classical musicians in the United States for careers combining musical excellence with teaching, community engagement, advocacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Over the course of this fellowship program, the musicians perform pieces that represent the history and future of classical music, from timeless Baroque music to new works.
