The Indeterminacy Festival will present Fourteen Porches, a unique musical performance by the Grace Chorale, on February 1, at 7:30 PM at St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn. This work will merge music, architecture, and community, to create an innovative form of art, and will be recorded live.

Fourteen Porches premiered on Governors Island in June 2024. Initially, it emerged from an ambitious project that united twenty musicians, seventy singers, and fifteen dancers. The composition, inspired by the historic porches of Nolan Park, aimed to fuse music with architecture, an often underrated art form. Now, the Grace Chorale will bring this unique performance to Brooklyn. The upcoming concert will feature a chamber orchestra, showcasing the festival’s commitment to creating collaborative artistic experiences.
The performance will feature Stanzi Vaubel on piano and Philippe Treuille on cello, who will join the chamber orchestra in this exciting concert. Founded by Vaubel in 2016, the Indeterminacy Festival has become known for creating dynamic performances at unexpected venues. Whether at a grain silo or a fossil park, each production is tailored to its unique environment. The musicians work to connect to the physical space and use that to fuel their performances.
The season continues with a preview of Into the Charmed Churned Circle, May 31, 2025, at 7PM at the Waterfront Museum, 290 Conover St, Brooklyn. The Indeterminacy Ensemble will perform a preview of the company’s newest work inspired by Herman Melville’s Moby Dick for choir and chamber orchestra aboard the Lehigh Valley No. 79 barge in Red Hook. An original composition by Stanzi Vaubel and Philippe Treuille, performed by members of Brooklyn Youth Choir Bass Ensemble, Grace Chorale, Brooklyn Treble Choir, New York Choir Project, in concert with musicians from the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra.
The World Premiere of Into the Charmed Churned Circle, a site-specific production, June 14, 2025, commissioned by the Newhouse Center at Snug Harbor Cultural Center 7:30PM, Building C, 1000 Richmond Ter, Staten Island. Performers hail from a consortium of ensembles including Brooklyn Youth Choir Bass Ensemble, Grace Chorale, Brooklyn Treble Choir, New York Choir Project, Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra with choreography by Melanie Aceto and her choreo lab ensemble.

Stanzi Vaubel and Philippe Treuille, both accomplished composers, bring impressive experience to the festival. For instance, Vaubel, a Fulbright Fellow and NYSCA award recipient, has received support from numerous arts councils across North America and Europe. Treuille, a Juilliard and Northwestern University graduate, has had his compositions performed at prestigious venues worldwide.
The Indeterminacy Festival aims to provide exceptional creative opportunities for artists of all ages and skill levels, and Fourteen Porches reflects that mission.
