Esperanza Spalding is hosting a 12-night residency at Blue Note NYC from February 18-23 and February 25th-March 2nd, and she will be performing music from all across her discography, including recent Grammy-winning projects 12 Little Spells and Songwrights Apothecary Lab.

Spalding’s upcoming residency will be her first residency of concerts in NYC in several years. She will perform in a quartet with some of her frequent collaborators including Morgan Guerin (bass), Eric Doob (drums) and Matthew Stevens (guitar), with a set at 8pm and at 10:30 pm every night of the residency.

Spalding is a five-time Grammy winner and 12-time nominee, including a nomination this year for her collaboration with Brazilian musician, Milton Nascimento, Milton + Esperanza. The album was produced and arranged by Spalding and features many renowned artists including Paul Simon, Shabaka, Lianne La Havas, Dianne Reeves, and Carolina Shorter.
Originally from Portland, Oregon, Spalding is trained in the North American jazz lineage and tradition. Her work interweaves through various combinations including instrumental music, improvisation, singing, composition, poetry, dance, and storytelling. Spalding also co-founded and serves as lead curator for Prismid Inc., a non-profit that creates and stewards artist residency, performance, and workshop space in Portland, Oregon. With her dance company Off Brand gOdds, co-founded with Antonio Brown and the Songwrights Apothecary Lab, she leads multi-week performance, teaching, workshop, and therapeutic-arts research residencies with colleges and arts venues across the Americas and throughout the world.
