Dave Rawlings Machine Playing Buffalo, Ithaca and Albany

Dave Rawlings Machine is making a weekend of it in Upstate New York. Fortunately for us, they’re not simply passing through on some leaf-peeping adventure. The fall colors will just be past peak, but the folk sounds will be in full bloom, peak after peak after peak.

They’re touring in support of their stellar and critically acclaimed new album Nashville Obsolete, but their concerts mix in material from 2009’s Friend of a Friend, plenty from band mate and Rawling’s wife Gillian Welch’s vast catalog, as well as classic folk songs and some unexpected covers.

Rawlings and Welch have assembled an all-star band for this tour, featuring some of the brightest young talent on the folk scene today. Fiddler extraordinaire Brittany Haas, Punch Brothers’ Paul Kowert on bass and Watkins Glen native and Old Crow Medicine Show founding member Willie Watson on guitar and banjo round out the quintet.

The band stops in Buffalo at Asbury Hall at Babeville on Thursday night, moves on to State Theater of Ithaca on Friday night and hits the Albany’s Hart Theater at the Egg on Saturday night. Three very unique and beautiful New York theaters for what are sure to be three very unique and beautiful concerts. The shows will be two sets each and they will change the set list quite a bit night to-night. Full details on the shows are below. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see a true treasure of American music.
