In 2007 in an effort to promote independent record stores, and the concept of the record – cd-etc. (you choose the medium) the inception of Record Store Day began. Several years later it has become a national holiday in the music business with full on celebrations nationwide. Artists all over choose this day to release special albums, promotional products, and bring attention to this culture of the Record Store.
