The Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration featuring Warren Haynes has been added to the SummerStage lineup for Monday, Aug. 8. Haynes led a symphonic tribute to Jerry Garcia in the summers of 2013 and 2014. He returns this summer for a brief tour, which includes two other stops in New York on Aug. 4 at CMAC in Canandaigua and Aug. 6 at Bethel Woods.

The lineup for Central Park’s SummerStage is gradually coming together with the first events recently announced, including a just-announced stop by New Zealand-based musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords.
SummerStage is New York City’s largest free performing arts series, taking place at Rumsey Playfield in the city’s storied Central Park. It plays host to a diverse lineup of artists and genres, including dance, hip hop, opera and film.
Several events have been scheduled for this year’s lineup. As part of the Blue Note Jazz Festival, the McCoy Tyner Quartet along with Ron Carter and Roy Haynes will play June 4. Tyner was a member of the John Coltrane Quartet playing piano. Carter was a bassist with the Miles Davis Quintet. Haynes, who plays drums, has performed as part of the Charlie Parker Quintet and has toured with many big names in jazz, including Stan Getz, Thelonious Monk and Pat Metheny.
Kamasi Washington will perform on June 18, also as part of the Blue Note Jazz Festival. He first picked up a saxophone at 13 and hasn’t looked back. He’s performed with many of his favorite artists including Mos Def, Lauryn Hill, Chaka Khan and Quincy Jones. He most recently worked on Kendrick Lamar’s well-received 2015 album To Pimp a Butterfly. Both of these concerts are free.
As we previously reported, the Barenaked Ladies will be there on June 13 with ’80s acts Howard Jones and Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark. Tickets are $52 and on sale now.
Flight of the Conchords are returning from their hiatus to play a full tour, including a stop at SummerStage on July 24. The New Zealand comedy duo were the basis for a BBC radio series and had a television series on HBO for two seasons. Tickets are $50 and $55 and go on sale this Friday, March 4 at 10 a.m.
All concerts are held at Rumsey Playfield in Central Park.
