Elise Testone’s All Star Band to Play the Hollow Dec. 17

Pearl Street is in for a treat, as American Idol finalist and singer/songwriter Elise Testone is bringing an all-star band to the Hollow in Albany on Dec. 17.

Her band for this night of original neo-soul, funk and blues will consist of RAQ keyboardist Todd Stoops, drummer Eric Kalb from the Alan Evans Trio, Timothy Bloom bassist Jed Lingat and guitarist Brad Williams. Brian LaPoint and the Joints will open the show.

Doors for the 18-and-over show open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 the day of the show.

Testone began performing music at a very young age, studying privately at the age of 5. She earned her bones singing and performing in coffee houses throughout her teens before enrolling in Coastal Carolina University and earning a degree in vocal performance. Now located in Brooklyn, Testone performs original music with her own band as well as with the James Brown Dance Party.

At the age of 27, Testone was approached by a scout for American Idol, becoming a top six finalist on the show in 2012. Testone has taken the experiences drawn from her Idol appearance and developed a storytelling style of vocals that has been compared to Ella Fitzgerald, Led Zeppelin, Janis Joplin, James Brown and Lauryn Hill.
