UK to Battle It Out with US in Lake George July 4 Concert

The Adirondack Independence Music Festival in Lake George will echo the American battle for independence against the British in a rock-off between American and British classic rock tunes.

On the Fourth of July, the Sixties Rock Experience will present a show that pits American rock icons like Carlos Santana, Jim Morrison and Grace Slick against Mick Jagger and Van Morrison in a U.S. vs. U.K. throw down. It’s an experience that’s a fitting yet unique way to celebrate America’s victory over the British in the U.S. war for independence.

The Sixties Rock Experience has performed at prestigious venues that range from city-sponsored park summer festivals to Proctor’s Theatre to the Golden Nugget Showroom in Atlantic City.

The two-day festival also includes national touring cover band The Idol Kings and Groovin’: a ’60s-‘70s Musical Journey. The #2 Band, comprised of Albany-based high school students, will open the July 4 show, then a Beach Boys tribute band called the Beach Party Boys will take the stage before the headliners play.

The festival, at Lake George’s Charles R. Wood Park from 3 to 10:30 p.m. July 3 and 4, will also include food and craft vendors, a wine and craft beer garden, a play zone for kids called the Adrenaline Zone, and the biggest fireworks display in Lake George’s history.

Tickets are on sale now for $20 a day or $30 for the weekend, and kids younger than 10 are free. Organizers invite attendees to bring lawn chairs and blankets, but coolers aren’t allowed.
