The Hollow Bar + Kitchen owes its existence to Dora and Michael Philip, who acquired the space in 2012. The restaurant operates under the guise of Chef Anna Weisheit, winner of the 2016 Albany Chef’s Food & Wine Festival’s Rising Star award.

The building began as a retail space, eventually evolving into a shoe repair shop. Initially known as The Bayou Cafe, the current owners took the reins in 2012 and changed the name to The Hollow Bar + Kitchen. The venue has contributed massively to the Albany music scene, developing and sustaining the presence of local and traveling bands in the heart of downtown.

In recent years, The Hollow has continued to develop their restaurant expertise, and continue to bring an eclectic and engaging lineup of performances to Albany. The venue has welcomed beloved artists such at The Revivalists, Deer Tick, Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, Young Culture, Aqueous, Goose, Mikaela Davis, Kung Fu, Mihali, Dr. Jah and the Love Prophets and more.
