Syracuse Alums Ra Ra Riot Celebrating 10 Years at Music Hall of Williamsburg

In 2006, a group of students began making a noise at house parties and venues on the Syracuse University hill. Indie rockers Ra Ra Riot self-released their first self-titled EP and were signed to V2 Records the following year. To mark the 10th anniversary of that release, the band has announced a special one-off show at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg April 22.

The band will perform its first EP in its entirety for the first time. The sounds on this release echo those of Vampire Weekend with a touch of the Decemberists while echoing U2, where traces of Bono’s influence can be heard in the “whoah whoah” section of “Everest.” This one time performance is sure to evoke memories of the days performing in the Schine Underground on the S.U. campus.

The current lineup of the band includes guitarist Milo Bonacci, lead singer/keyboardist Wes Miles, bassist Mathieu Santos and violinist Rebecca Zeller. Their latest album Need Your Light, released in February of 2016, has received high praise as the band has moved towards a more dance-oriented sound.

VIP bundles for the 10th anniversary show will be available beginning Feb. 22. For more information, follow Ra Ra Riot’s Facebook page.
