John Mellencamp Announces ‘Plain Spoken’ Tour

John Mellencamp will head out on a U.S. tour in April. The Plain Spoken Tour, as it is being called, will culminate with a night at Albany’s Palace Theatre.

American roots-rocker John Mellencamp will resume his Plain Spoken Tour of 2015 with 13 nights through the Midwest and Northeast. The tour begins April 1 in Oklahoma and closes out at the Palace Theatre in Albany on April 23. Opening each show for him is country singer Carlene Carter, daughter of June Carter Cash.

From the press release:

The tour will see Mellencamp playing the Palace Theatre in Albany, NY and performing songs from 2015’s Plain Spoken, his 22nd studio album and one of the most lauded in his 40-year career, as well as his catalog of fan favorites.  Praised as “stark, soul-baring (Billboard)” and drawing comparison to Bob Dylan’s Grammy-winning album ‘Blood on the Tracks,’ Plain Spoken draws on timely themes including political and social injustice, further cementing Mellencamp’s status as “arguably the most important roots rocker of his generation (Billboard).”

Tickets for the Plain Spoken Tour go on sale this Friday, Jan. 29.
