Big Something Announces Winter 2018 Tour

North Carolina-based outfit Big Something has announced winter dates for 2018.  The band is slated to kick-off their winter tour in Burlington, VT on Feb. 9.  Big Something will make two stops in New York state including shows in Buffalo and Syracuse.

Big Something will close out 2017 with a three-night run at the Lincoln Theater in Raleigh, NC.  They will head out in support of Umphrey’s McGee for three nights in early January before traveling south for a string of Florida dates with special guest Bobby Lee Rogers.

The twenty-three recently announced dates include stops across the United States with Big Something hitting seventeen states as far west as Washington.  Shows in Burlington and Boston will also feature Ohio based band The Werks.

Casey Cranford, who handles Sax and EWI duties told NYS Music that Big Something is looking forward to hitting the road and showcasing their sound. “The band has felt highly energetic and creative over the past few months, “he noted, “It feels so good to play these days!”

The 6-piece powerhouse fuses elements of pop, rock, funk and improv and has quickly become one of the most talked about bands in the Southeast.   Big Something fans are hopeful that the band will debut new music on the road after the band recently posted via their Facebook page that they have entered the studio to record new material.

Big Something is recording at Echo Mountain Recording Studios in Asheville, NC. No official release date for the band’s forthcoming fifth studio album has been set.

Cranford revealed that the band is already excited by the studio sessions. “We have arranged a brand-new song that stemmed from a few ideas that Jesse [Hensley – lead guitar] had previously recorded. Our producer, John Custer, added ideas and worked with us in the studio to construct what has become a really cool song.”

“It’s different from a lot of our other music and speaks to different emotions. We also jammed some new improvised music that may become new material. We’re still in the mixing process so I’m excited to see what come out of the finished process.”

Fans catching the band live for the first time can expect, as Cranford describes “a big party… Nothing but ethereal feelings and positive energy.”

Tickets for all show will be available through various ticketing sources.  Check local venues for details.
