Dark Star Orchestra Announces New Year’s Run; Additional Fall Tour Dates

Dark Star Orchestra, in the business of recreating the Grateful Dead experience for more than 2000 shows, has announced a pair of New Year’s shows in Albany at The Palace Theatre, and additional Fall Tour dates. Celebrating the music of the Dead since 1997, the band’s next shows are a trio in Colorado, with stops Sept. 6 and 7 at the Boulder Theater and their sophomore performance at Red Rocks Park & Amphitheater on Sunday, Sept. 8 where the band will be recreating the 9/8/83 Grateful Dead show (also from Red Rocks) in its entirety.

Using entire shows from the Grateful Dead’s decades-long tenure of touring as guidance, Dark Star Orchestra recreates song-for-song performances straight from historic setlists, focusing on each era, the individual style of each era, and its own interpretations and improvisations.

“Playing with Dark Star Orchestra is something that feels just exactly like it felt when I was playing with the Grateful Dead.”
– Donna Jean Godchaux, Grateful Dead vocalist, frequent DSO guest
