New England-based Ryan Montbleau is set to return to Putnam Place for a full band show on Saturday, September 22. Montbleau has been one of the nation’s favorite songwriters and performers, touring for over a decade both as a solo artist and bandleader. Most recently, Montbleau played for his sixteenth year at Wormtown Music Festival in Greenfield, MA. Wormtown is like “coming home,” according to Ryan. One highlight of this year’s set was a stellar sit in with percussionist Mike Dillon. Ryan has a couple more stops on this tour with the full band and in October he will start his nationwide fall solo-acoustic tour, making a few stops in New York State.
Originally from Peabody, MA and recently relocated to Burlington, Ryan discussed what it means to him to feel “at home.” Being the hard working, road warrior that he has been over the years, the idea of what home became the focus of his most recent album I Was Just Leaving. Produced by Anders Osbourne, the album gives insight into the sometimes lonely lifestyle resulting from constant touring & focusing on a life in music. With lyrics like “I thought all along that I had been building a home but it turned out I was just leaving,” this album is one of Ryan’s most personal and emotional releases to date.
Winding down the full band tour, Ryan has announced a nationwide solo-acoustic tour set to kick off October 3 in Asheville, NC at Ambrose West. Preferring to play smaller, quieter rooms for his solo performances, fans should expect this tour to boast intimate musical experiences at each stop along the way. The nationwide solo tour isn’t the only thing Ryan has coming up, he also is going to be releasing a Live-Acoustic compilation album called ‘Woodstock Sessions.’ The album will include tracks recorded in Woodstock from 2000-2007. The official release date is soon to come.
Putnam Place is happy to have Ryan return, and he is equally excited to return. “Every time we play in Saratoga Springs we have such a great time,” Montbleau stated. The opening act for the night is The Big Takeover, a New York-based band that blends reggae, world music, and Motown. The Big Takeover will certainly start the night off right.
